Duties of an Enrolled Nurse in Aged Care

An EN (enrolled nurse) is a qualified healthcare professional who has obtained a Diploma of Nursing.
They work in the scope of their practice usually underneath a registered nurse and with
assistant in nursing/personal care workers to provide high quality care to residents.

Roles and responsibilities of an enrolled nurse include the following:

  • Providing routine care such as assisting with hygiene and ADLS (activities of daily living)
  • Administering medications
  • Reporting and care planning, which will document residents conditions and ongoing medical support required
  • Recording any changes to a resident and escalating this to the appropriate individual(s)
  • Liaising with doctors and other external parties when necessary
  • Providing support to families

Our ENs work on an ad-hoc basis, on AM, PM and night shifts. We have
